This article is the result of an investigation conducted in the School of Distance Learning (FAEDIS) of Militar Nueva Granada University (UMNG). Whose purpose was to determine in the academic community Blended Learning, the type of social networks they use and also determine the type of information that through these is socialized; finally, it was determined whether the management of contents is used to research in integral education or in the dynamic of professional formation in this technological scenario. The methodology used as a case study allowed us to collect information of 49,365 records corresponding to 3,291 users, used as base for the study and analysis of the use of social media as instrument of high social impact associated with the Information Technologies and Communications (ICT). Among the findings we can mention the people categorization by their role and its ages, types of social networks that used within the community, the use thereof for the integral training, as well as the different strategies that users use to promote and stimulate this dimension into his academic role through these type of technologies for the learning and finally, it give some recommendations for the convergence of these scenarios in teaching environments.
