Abstract:


Simulation of mobile networks requires reliable movement generation. Random movement pattern is frequently used in simulators. We investigate the performance of the popular setdest movement generator built into ns2 using quadrat count tests and the VMR test. The results show a bias towards placing the nodes in the center of the simulated area. We propose, and implement a different method for random movement generation in ns2 simulator and show that our movement generator improves the randomness of the node distribution during the simulation.
