Abstract:


Global warming and climate change were the phenomenons that were caused by a lot of emissions of Carbon Dioxide (CO2) at the atmosphere. IT is one of the sector that was contributed at least 3% of the CO2 emissions and the percent is keep increase from day to day as IT become one of the need in human’s daily life. In order to sustain the environment, Green IT was been introduced. Unfortunately, Green IT at Malaysia is still in slow progress and can be identified as at alarming condition. The level of Green IT awareness among Malaysian focusing on polytechnic student was still unidentified. Polytechnic is one of the providers of Technical and Vocational Education and Training institution that was aimed to produce at least 680,000 professionals during 2020. These future professionals should be educate with Green IT knowledge to ensure the sustainability of the environment for the future. As such, this conceptual paper aimed to discuss the need of build up the polytechnic student with Green IT knowledge through formal education and guided with Green IT curriculum.
