Abstract:

Despite the increase of energy consumption linked to the growth of the population and human needs in energy, and the countless attempts to mitigate air pollution and GHG emissions, the vehicles’ electrification recently emerged as a significant solution for the pollution problem. Therefore, several studies have investigated the electric vehicles, their charging and discharging processes, as well as the energy flows they provide and receive depending on the energy demand and their management strategies. In this paper, the electric vehicles are further studied based on literature review and available investigations starting with the Electric Vehicles (EV) batteries, battery chargers and converters, and the EV charging types and modes. Besides, the Vehicle-To-Grid V2G generations are studied, as well as the EV charging/discharging through V2X/X2V technologies (where X is referred to by the grid G, building B or home H). Moreover, some already existing Vehicle-To-Home systems are exposed, and energy management strategies are discussed.
