Abstract:

In this paper we present the development of a research model of mobile gaming acceptance that includes a motivational point of view regarding monetary and non- monetary incentives. A set of twelve hypotheses is derived from extensive literature review. These a priori hypothesis are tested on a survey data set (n=2016) and new hypothesis are developed based on results of the exploratory statistical analysis. Three main acceptance factors - game platform quality, game provider activities and social and online functionalities - were identified. According to preliminary analysis these are influenced by gaming motives both monetary and non-monetary and have effects on gaming frequency. Preliminary results of the data analysis indicate appropriateness of the model regarding explanation of gaming frequency concerning games of chance and skill games.
