Recently, a gigantic scale of big data is applied to almost every area around the world. In reflection of the global trend and social demands, technology development is being promoted in the area of road traffic particularly for traffic information service and analysis system in utilization of big data. Accordingly, this study aims to develop future forecast traffic information service technology based on big data by analyzing trends, Korea and other countries, of related patents as well as the level of each major country's technological advancement. In this analysis, Korea and foreign trends of patents and the level of technological advancement of each major country are examined, and a direction for technological development is also presented. The result of analyzing major applicants for patent registration related to technology, Korea and other countries, shows that the ratios of the U.S. and Korean applicants were the highest. It is expected that the development of future forecast traffic information and driving information service technology based on big data will contribute to enhancing drivers' driving environment safety and meeting demands for differentiated, high-end traffic information.
