Abstract:

The purpose of any college is education—the broadening of knowledge—but there’s little point in creating and expanding knowledge without the ability to pass it on to future generations. Therefore, an increasing number of instructors constantly change their teaching philosophy to enhance the overall academic experience. However, many instructors are still not aware of the importance of teaching philosophies. In the traditional, instructor-oriented approach to lecturing, students engage passively with class material. Some studies even show that students face serious learning difficulties when encountering IT courses. This article describes how the author designed her teaching philosophy, where she uses educational technologies to improve the quality of learning in her IT courses. This paper aims to encourage more instructors to become aware of the importance of teaching philosophies, and thus design their philosophies to improve their students' learning satisfactions.
