Travel Information for the Conference
There are two options to get to Ostrava:
1. Fly to Prague (http://www.prg.aero/en/site/uvodni_stranka.htm) and then to Ostrava (http://www.airport-ostrava.cz/en/). The flight to Ostrava operated by Czech Airlines takes about 50 minutes. Here is the information on getting to and from Ostrava airport:

You can also take a train from Prague to Ostrava. The ride takes about 4 hours and you do not need a reservation (except the train Pendolino mentioned later). The tickets can be purchased at the railway station before the trip. The Prague main train station (Praha hlavni nadrazi – Praha hl.n.) can be reached by taxi or by Airport Bus Express. The bus ride takes about 30 minutes and the ticket can be purchased from the bus driver. Further information can be found at:

One way ticket prices are between 400-600 Czech crowns (CZK). 1 EUR ~ 26 CZK.
Ostrava has two main train stations: Ostrava-Svinov and Ostrava-hlavni nadrazi (hl.n). The Ostrava Svinov station is closer to the conference venue and the Ostrava hl.n. station is closer to downtown.
The fastest train connection is provided by the Pendolino train: http://www.scpendolino.cz/en/:/index.xhtml. For this train, you need a reservation. The tickets need to be purchased in advance as the train is often fully booked.
2. Fly to Vienna, Austria

The ride to Ostrava by train takes about 4 hours. Only a few trains go there directly. The time table can be found here:

From the Ostrava - Svinov train station:
- taxi
- walk to the tram stop (approximately 5 minutes from the train station) and then take tram # 7, 8 or 17 to the stop 17.
listopadu (10 minutes) and then 10-15 minutes walk to the residence. Purchase a 15-minute tram ticket.
From the Ostrava - hlavni nadrazi train station:
- taxi
- take tram # 8 to the stop 17. listopadu (40 minutes) and then 10-15 minutes walk to the residence. Purchase a 60-minute tram ticket.
How to reach conference building by public transport:
Almost all hotels in Ostrava are close to Tram Stations. To reach Conference Building – Nova Aula VSB-TU Ostrava you may use trams 7, 8, 17 and the destination station is “Areal VSB”

Taking taxi is safe at any time – the cars are signed with word TAXI at the roof. The price list is always at the driver‘s door. Cars drive on the right side. To use public transportation, you need a ticket, which may be bought before travel or from a driver. Information about Ostrava public transportation is found here:
