Abstract

The 21st century is by far the most interesting century so far - not just due to the rapid technological advances, but mainly due to the history-changing evolution paradigm. This new paradigm, introduced by today's information-centric era, has placed information scientists, engineers and researchers at the centre of evolution process. This evolution process, typically based on a researcher-to-consumer cycle, started to involve different disciplines and different research methodologies, whilst achieving shorter time to market for each new product or service.

This talk will present aspects of the current research paradigm, which is currently transforming to a new "Research to Consumer" paradigm, focusing on various discipline analogies, sciences convergence and potential synergies that could accelerate the development of useful and innovative products and services. It will also state how all these research actions could benefit from using information-centric tools and methodologies.
